Quick Thoughts

Hi guys! As one of my 2025 goals, I want to make sure I’m checking out and reading at LEAST 10 books from the library this year. To help show what types of amazing books you might be able to find at your local library I have decided to blog my library hauls. My library book hauls are never going to have a ton of books. I pick only a couple for the month to ensure I read and return them on time. Now, let’s get into my first library haul of 2025!

The Fairy Bargains of Prospect Hill-Rowenna Miller

Published – March 28, 2023

Genres – Adult, Historical fiction, Fantasy

Page Count – 400

Goodreads Rating – 3.64 out of 5

Summary

In the early 1900s, two sisters must navigate the magic and the dangers of the Fae in this enchanting and cozy historical fantasy about sisterhood and self-discovery.

There is no magic on Prospect Hill—or anywhere else, for that matter. But just on the other side of the veil is the world of the Fae. Generations ago, the first farmers on Prospect Hill learned to bargain small trades to make their lives a little easier—a bit of glass to find something lost, a cup of milk for better layers in the chicken coop.

Much of that old wisdom was lost as the riverboats gave way to the rail lines and the farmers took work at mills and factories. Alaine Fairborn’s family, however, was always superstitious, and she still hums the rhymes to find a lost shoe and to ensure dry weather on her sister’s wedding day.

When Delphine confides her new husband is not the man she thought he was, Alaine will stop at nothing to help her sister escape him. Small bargains buy them time, but a major one is needed. Yet, the price for true freedom may be more than they’re willing to pay.

My thoughts

This book was in my library’s “new arrivals” section and the cover caught my eye at first. I haven’t read a historical fiction in quite awhile but I enjoy them so I figured I would bring it home. This seems like something that’s right up my alley and a fun break from the thriller, mystery, horror books I’ve been reading lately.

The Bridge Kingdom-Danielle L. Jensen

Series – The Bridge Kingdom #1

Published – October 16, 2018

Genres – Fantasy, Romance, Adult

Page Count – 448

Goodreads Rating – 4.04 out of 5

Summary

A warrior princess trained in isolation, Lara is driven by two certainties. The first is that King Aren of the Bridge Kingdom is her enemy. And the second is that she’ll be the one to bring him to his knees.

The only route through a storm-ravaged world, the Bridge Kingdom enriches itself and deprives its rivals, including Lara’s homeland. So when she’s sent as a bride under the guise of peace, Lara is prepared to do whatever it takes to fracture its impenetrable defenses. And the defenses of its king.

Yet as she infiltrates her new home and gains a deeper understanding of the war to possess the bridge, Lara begins to question whether she’s the hero or the villain. And as her feelings for Aren transform from frosty hostility to fierce passion, Lara must choose which kingdom she’ll save… and which kingdom she’ll destroy.

Passionate and violent, The Bridge Kingdom is a seductive fantasy perfect for fans of From Blood and Ash and A Court of Thorns and Roses.

My Thoughts

This originally caught my eye because of not only the beautiful cover but the authors name. My fiance read “A Fated Inked in Blood” by this author and loved it. I love a good romantasy and with the high praise my partner gave the author I had to bring it home so we could both read it.

My Thoughts

While sitting at a table in the library working on a book review the spine of this book sitting on a shelf nearby caught my eye. I walked over to investigate and was greeted with a beautiful cover and an interesting synopsis so I had to immediately check it out.

Ending Thoughts

I’m excited to start all of these and they’re a very welcome addition to my immediate TBR. I noticed all three of them are fantasy which makes sense because I’ve loved that genre my entire life. I’m looking forward to continuing to share my library hauls to show just how many great books a library card can get you!

Do you have a library card? What was the last time you went or the last title you read?
