Hello! My name is Morgan, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to my blog, Green Eclipse Reads! Although I’m new to blogging, I’m excited to share my passion for reading in this cozy corner of the internet. Thank you so much for joining me on this journey!
Why did I start my blog?
I have always been a very anxious person when it came to social media. I am the type to have a private account and not make any content that others can see or enjoy. That all changed when I made an account on Lemon8 and started my book account. The app was small enough that it allowed me to gain the confidence to post publicly. I use Lemon8 as a digital reading journal, and even though my account is small, numbers were never the point. I used to fear being perceived online, and now I love connecting with the bookish community. Lemon8 truly did help me come out of my shell in the digital world, and I found myself wanting to create more long-form type content. Other social media platforms really couldn’t provide the same sense of community or allow me to make the type of content I like to create so this blog was born!
What type of books do I read?
I read a wide range of genres and am a huge mood reader. My top genres have to be fantasy/romantasy, mythology retellings, thriller, and I’ve recently discovered my love for gothic horror.
My library card is my favorite possession and the library is my favorite place to go. Most books I read come from the library or its book sales (I love finding a good deal).
When did I start reading?
The first memory I have of reading happened in the laundry room when I was in kindergarten. I started reading the sticker inside of the washing machine door and my mom was surprised at how well I was reading it, she said “YOU CAN READ?’. I think about that memory from time to time and giggle.
I have fond memories of my elementary school library, Junie B Jones, Rainbow Magic fairies, and Bad Kitty. Reading was my escape and also just something to do while I was bored. Once I got to middle school there wasn’t a dedicated library time to check out books so as my schedule got more and more busy I stopped going. My reading journey paused there until I moved out of my mom’s house into a tiny studio apartment with my boyfriend, now fiancé, just a couple blocks away from my public library. Reading is again one of my favorite hobbies and we still love going to the library.
Other facts about me
I’m 21 years old and live in upstate NY with my fiancé and our pets (My dog Linkin, cat Autumn, bunnies Winnie and Bambi, and my 2 chinchillas Moses and Comet).
Reading and blogging are just 2 of my many hobbies and interests. I love to spend time outside in my garden, at a farmers market, taking my dog on hikes or walks, having bonfires, having picnics, camping, or just sitting on my porch. I am a huge foodie and love to bake and cook. I play a lot of cozy video games like Stardew Valley, Dreamlight Valley, The Sims 3 and 4, Botany Manor, and A Little to the Left. As I mentioned before I love a good deal and frequent thrift stores and things like library book sales.
